Alvor, Portimao, Portugal

Alvor is a civil parish (Portuguese: freguesia) in the municipality of Portimão, in the southern Algarve of Portugal. In 2001 its population was 4997 inhabitants in an area of approximately 15.25 km².
In the past the city used to be an important fishing port in the Algarve region.

The real name of this beach is Prainha. Prainha Beach - This is a very popular beach, in Alvor area, because its cliffs protect the visitors from the north wind, some times very strong on Alvor beach. Its name came out from the touristy complex of prainha on the top of the cliffs.
